This was an individual project completed in the final year of my BSc in Electromechanical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. The project earned the best project - in Electromechanical Engineering - award from the South African Institute of Mechanical Engineering.
This project included the design, manufacture, and testing of a machine capable of taking in paint tins, lids and paint and outputting capped and filled paint tins. One of the major features of this project was the novel design of a double knuckle linkage mechanism, capable of integrating the task of filling and capping paint tins into a single, efficient mechanical system. The machine was automated using the STM32F051 microprocessor along with power circuitry and an array of different sensors and actuators.
